Former federal prosecutor Lori Lightfoot has won Chicago’s mayoral election, the Associated Press reports. Lightfoot has thus become not only the city’s first black female mayor, but also the first openly gay one, according to The Chicago Tribune. Lightfoot will succeed Mayor Rahm Emanuel after beating Toni Preckwinkle, president of the Cook County Board.
