China has decided to retaliate against the United States after President Donald Trump imposed $60 billion in new tariffs on Beijing. China’s commerce ministry said it would raise tariffs on U.S. imports of pork, fruit, wine, and other items in response to the Trump administration’s directive, which the president said on Thursday would be “the first of many.” China also plans to take legal action against the U.S. through the World Trade Organization. After Trump’s announcement, the Dow Jones Industrial Average slid, finishing more than 700 points down on the day.
