An unknown number of Chinese parents travel to America each year to give birth in nicer conditions and to ensure that their children, who are American citizens by birth, have access to U.S. universities after they return to China. Parents are aided by online forums that discuss places to stay, what to bring, and even how to fool American immigration officials, who have been known to turn away pregnant women they believe may be coming just to give birth.
