The first trailer for Vice, the Dick Cheney biopic from Oscar-nominated director Adam McKay (The Big Short) is here. The film, previously titled Backseat, stars a nearly unrecognizable Christian Bale as the former vice president along with Sam Rockwell as George W. Bush, Steve Carell as Donald Rumsfeld and Amy Adams as Lynne Cheney. The centerpiece of the trailer is the conversation in which Bush asks Cheney to be his running mate. Cheney agrees to serve in the “mostly symbolic job” of vice president only if he can oversee “bureaucracy, military, energy and foreign policy.” Bush replies, “Yeah, right,” but after a pause adds, “I like that.” Vice is currently scheduled for a Christmas release.
