Maybe Chris Christie won’t run, after all: While the New Jersey governor is keeping mum on his intentions, The Wall Street Journal reports that he has made promises not to run as recently as last Wednesday. According to the paper, one such promise was made to Hewlett-Packard CEO Meg Whitman, as a condition for the $15,000-a-head fundraiser she held for Christie last week. (Whitman, as Politico points out, supports Mitt Romney.) When asked again at the dinner if he would run for president, Christie said “no,” the paper said. President Obama, meanwhile, addressed Christie’s flirtation with running for president, saying the “nasty stuff” Christie is saying about him won’t sit well with voters in New Jersey.
