Christie’s held its largest-ever Postwar and Contemporary auction Wednesday, with collectors from around the world shelling out record prices for works by artists like Franz Kline, Jeff Koons, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. The sale brought in $412.3 million, surpassing the already high estimate of $411.8 million. The night's big seller was Andy Warhol’s Statue of Liberty, which fetched $43.8 million. And you balk at paying $4 for gas.
