Fastest-Warming States in U.S. Are Alaska—and Rhode Island

A new analysis of climate change data has confirmed that Alaska is the fastest-warming state in the nation. But the number-crunchers at The Washington Post revealed some more surprising results: Rhode Island and New Jersey are the states in the lower 48 with the quickest-rising average temperatures—thanks to warmer winters. New Jersey’s average temperature is up by 2 degrees Celsius since 1895, and Rhode Island’s has risen even more.
