CNN to Air Final Season of Anthony Bourdain’s ‘Parts Unknown’

In honor of the inimitable Anthony Bourdain, the celebrity chef who took his life nearly eight weeks ago, CNN will air seven more episodes of his series Parts Unknown this fall. The Los Angeles Times reports that one of the episodes, in which Bourdain traveled to Kenya with comedian W. Kamau Bell, was completed before Bourdain’s death, and will feature the chef’s signature written narration. Four more episodes will lack the narration, but will pull recordings from Bourdain’s trips to Manhattan, Texas, Spain, and Indonesia. A CNN executive told the Times that she believes the four additional episodes will still reflect Bourdain’s signature style. “Each one will feel slightly different depending on what’s gathered in the field,” she said. “They will have the full presence of Tony because you’ll see him, you’ll hear him, you’ll watch him. That layer of his narration will be missing, but it will be replaced by other voices of people who are in the episodes.” The network will then air two more episodes: a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Parts Unknown, and a final homage to Bourdain’s legacy.
