Coast Guard Lt. Christopher Paul Hasson was indicted in Maryland on Wednesday for illegally possessing firearm silencers, guns, and a controlled substance with the intent to “kill almost every last person on the earth,” court documents state. Federal prosecutors allege the 49-year-old officer had planned a domestic terrorist attack from his Coast Guard office, using the agency’s computers to research infamous acts of terror, including the Virginia Tech massacre and the Unabomber. Hasson, a 28-year veteran, had been stockpiling weapons in his Silver Spring home since 2017, officials say. Investigators reportedly found a “hit list” that included Democratic Sens. Nancy Pelosi, Tim Kaine, Chuck Schumer, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Cory Booker, as well as Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Maxine Waters. He also had his sites set on CNN’s Don Lemon, Chris Cuomo, and Van Jones and MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough. Investigators say he also used Google to search “where do most senators live in dc” and “civil war if trump impeached.”
