Cohen Refused to Fully Cooperate With Federal Prosectors in New York: Memo

Federal prosecutors in New York submitted a sentencing memo Friday for Michael Cohen, revealing the former Trump lawyer refused to fully cooperate with their probe. “Had Cohen actually cooperated, it could have been fruitful: He did provide what could have been useful information about matters relating to ongoing investigations being carried out by this Office. But as Cohen partially acknowledges, it was his decision not to pursue full cooperation,” the memo read. Prosecutors also said Cohen only met with them “about the participation of others” in financial crimes he had already pleaded guilty to, but would not discuss “other areas of investigative interest.” “Cohen’s efforts thus fell well short of cooperation,” prosecutors wrote. Cohen, who has cooperated in special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe, pleaded guilty in recent months to lying to Congress and committing election and financial fraud. Federal prosecutors recommended that he be sentenced to a “substantial” prison term of several years in the two cases. He’s scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 12.
