Comedian Artie Lange reported to jail after testing positive for cocaine for the second time in less than two months. Lange announced he was entering a long-term treatment program for drug abuse on the same day. According to Lange’s team, the comedian was not arrested, but authorities “are holding him a few days to sober up before transferring him to a long term treatment facility.” “Artie needs us to be with him, not against him.” In Lange’s mug shot, his nose appears to have been bleeding. His lawyer, Frank Arleo, said that Lange is on Suboxone, a medication used to treat opioid dependence. “He knows he’s got a problem,” Arleo says. “He knows he shouldn’t have tested dirty yesterday, but he did. He knew what was going to happen.” Lange, who is best known for his more than eight years as an on-air personality for The Howard Stern Show, also has a recurring role on the HBO series Crashing.
