A white Chicago police officer caught on dashboard-camera footage fatally shooting a black teenager has been charged with first-degree murder on Tuesday. The footage, which the city is preparing to release Wednesday, purportedly shows Officer Jason Van Dyke shooting 17-year-old Laquan McDonald 16 times on Oct. 20, 2014. Van Dyke allegedly kept firing after the teen fell to ground, lawyers for McDonald’s family said. Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Monday met with community leaders, warning of possible protests following the court-ordered release of the video.
