The Council on American-Islamic Relations, CAIR, has condemned the life-threatening tweet from President Trump against Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). CAIR, the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, called on Democratic and Republican leadership to publicly show support of Omar. On Friday, Trump tweeted: “Never Forget!” accompanied by an edited video of the horrific acts of September 11th, 2001, over a sound bite of Omar saying, “some people did something.” The quote, taken from an event last month where Omar spoke about the establishment of CAIR after 9/11, and it's importance, has made the freshman congresswoman the target of online vitriol and death threats. “Every American should be disgusted by Trump’s continued incitement against Congresswoman Ilhan Omar,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad. “He is endangering Rep. Omar’s life by taking her words out of context and evoking painful imagery to exploit a national tragedy.”
