Katie Couric went toe-to-toe with her old show Monday when she guest-hosted Good Morning America, but Today still pulled out on top of the ratings. Meanwhile, Sarah Palin sat in the guest host’s seat at Today on Tuesday in what’s heating up to be a week of stiff competition between the morning shows. Even Couric couldn’t get ABC’s morning spot past Today in ratings Monday, however, and the show fell about 300,000 viewers shy of the top spot. Couric hosted at Today for 16 years before taking a gig at CBS.
