More than 90 people are sick with a gastrointestinal illness causing vomiting and diarrhea following and outbreak aboard a Royal Caribbean international cruise. Two crew members and 89 passengers on the Radiance of the Seas appear to have come down with norovirus, but it’s not clear what originally caused the outbreak, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The ship sailed from Tampa, Florida, on Saturday and was halfway through its eight-day trip when the outbreak was reported on Tuesday. The infected passengers have been isolated and are being testing to find the outbreak’s “causative agent,” and the ship’s crew has stepped up its cleaning and disinfecting procedures. Radiance of the Seas is carrying more than 2,160 passengers and 910 crew members. According to CruiseMapper, it has made stops in Mexico, Honduras, and Belize before its expected arrival back in Florida on Saturday morning. The Radiance of the Seas experienced a similar outbreak in September, when 180 people came down with salmonella poisoning during a cruise from Vancouver to Alaska.
