Comedian Bob Einstein died on Wednesday at 76 after a bout with cancer. The older brother of Albert Brooks, Einstein got his start as a writer on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour before playing the daredevil character Super Dave Osbourne on a series of sketch comedy specials and late-night TV appearances. More recently, he portrayed Larry David’s friend Marty Funkhouser on nearly two dozen episodes of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm from 2004 through the most recent season in 2017. In a Twitter tribute to his “dear brother,” Brooks called Einstein a “great brother, father and husband” and a “brilliantly funny man” who “will be missed forever.”
