OUCH

‘I can’t believe Donald didn’t get Melania anything for her birthday. Now she might think he’s not a very good husband,’ joked the comedian.

No matter what your thoughts are on her bloviating husband, it’s hard not to feel at least a little bit sorry for Melania Trump.

The first lady has been forced to suffer a parade of indignities over the past year, including numerous affair and abuse allegations leveled against the president. And the tension in the relationship is palpable: Just this week, Melania was caught on video repeatedly rejecting her husband’s hand-holding attempts during French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit.

So you’d think that Donald Trump would at least get her something nice for her birthday.

“Normally when Trump has a bad day, we know Trump watches Fox & Friends and yells at the TV. But today he did the same thing—and we all got to listen in,” said Trevor Noah on Thursday.

The Daily Show host addressed Trump’s bonkers call-in interview earlier Thursday with his favorite morning show, which soon devolved into a series of shouty rants. During the chat, the president also revealed that it was Melania’s birthday, saying, “I picked a very, very special day, because it’s Melania’s birthday. So I said, ‘Let’s do [the interview] on Melania’s birthday.’ So happy birthday to Melania.”

But then, when the hosts of Fox & Friends asked Trump what he got her for her birthday, Trump replied, “Well, I better not get into that, because I may get in trouble. Maybe I didn’t get her so much… I got her a beautiful card.”

“How did Trump mess up the world’s easiest question?” said Noah. “It’s like they threw him a softball and he swung and hit himself in the dick!”

He added, “And I mean, it’s her birthday. I can’t believe Donald didn’t get Melania anything for her birthday. Now she might think he’s not a very good husband. Also, I would pay anything to know what he wrote inside that card that he definitely didn’t actually get. Roses are red, love is a mystery, I had a historic Electoral College victory.”
