The actress said the project was a learning experience, and what she’d learned was that a big-budget superhero movie isn’t for her.

Dakota Johnson was “not surprised” by the onslaught of negative reviews her latest film Madame Web has gotten, she told Bustle. The actress said that the $80 million film suffered from its size. In big movies “decisions are being made by committees, and art does not do well when it’s made by committee,” she explained. It’d been a learning experience, she said, and what she’d learned was that a big-budget superhero movie isn’t for her. “I probably will never do anything like it again because I don’t make sense in that world,” she said. She struggled as the project morphed into something different than what she signed on to make she explained, adding, “and of course it’s not nice to be a part of something that’s ripped to shreds, but I can’t say that I don’t understand.” Madame Web has earned a humble 12 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and had the worst global opening weekend of any film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Johnson previously said that Madame Web’s script saw “drastic changes” after she joined the project.
