The Dallas police officer who fatally shot a man when she mistook his apartment for her own was arrested Sunday on a manslaughter charge. Amber Guyger, 30, was booked into the county jail after the Texas Rangers took over the investigation into Botham Jean’s death from city police, according to the The Dallas Morning News. Guyger, who had been a police officer for four years, told investigators she accidentally entered Jean’s unit at her apartment complex after work Thursday and opened fire on the 26-year-old PricewaterhouseCoopers employee. Jean’s family had called for criminal charges against Guyger, saying through their attorney that they wanted the officer to “be treated like every other citizen.”
