Dasha Zhukova Poses on a Naked Black Woman: Russian fashion site Buro 24/7—run by street style star Miroslava Duma—found itself in some hot water on Monday after it published a photo of Garage magazine editor-in-chief Dasha Zhukova seated elegantly on a bound black woman posed as a chair. The image spread online and was followed by an uproar of negative responses. FashionBombDaily’s site editor quickly commented that the image was a prime example of “white dominance and superiority, articulated in a seemingly serene yet overtly degrading way,” and twitter comments ranged from “absolutely disgusting” to “Miroslava Duma dumb girl! What were you thinking?” Duma has since removed the image from her Instagram account (where she also issued an apology) and the website has cropped the “chair model” out of the photo. The creative team reportedly drew its inspiration from a 1969 piece of furniture, titled “Chair,” designed by British pop artist Allen Jones that depicted a woman sculpture in the same position.
