D.C. United forward Wayne Rooney was arrested on charges of public intoxication and swearing, a local news reporter Tweeted on Sunday. Rooney was arrested on Dec. 16 and released on his own recognizance, according to a police document posted by Washington, D.C.-based ABC 7 sports reporter Erin Hawksworth. Hawksworth attributed her intel to sources. Rooney, 33, is from Liverpool, per D.C. United’s website. He previously played on the Everton and Manchester United teams. Rooney in 2017 was banned from driving in England after admitting to being drunk behind the wheel. He was also required to complete 100 hours of community service, according to the BBC.
