Haven’t they been through enough? A rare and lethal fungus has been discovered in eight people in Joplin, Missouri, the site of last month’s devastating tornado. At least three of those eight confirmed cases have resulted in death. The fungus, known as murcomycosis, often infects humans by way of soil; experts say they believe the fierce winds kicked up by the twister blew infected dirt directly onto people’s skin. Some 151 deaths have now been attributed to the storm, including the three cases of murcomycosis.
