A man was detained Monday after he allegedly exhibited “unruly behavior” and hit and bit fellow passengers on a Delta Air Lines flight. The man was traveling from Atlanta to Los Angeles and allegedly began whacking other passengers and even sank his teeth into one. The L.A. Fire Department and L.A. World Airports Police Department rushed to the scene after the flight landed. They transported the man to a local hospital for a medical evaluation, and paramedics examined the bitten passenger. Delta is working with law enforcement in the investigation, and a spokesperson said that the company has “zero tolerance” for that kind of behavior. There have been 300 incidents of similar disturbances on planes this year alone. There were more than 2,100 reports last year. In a statement to CNN, the FAA said it “pursues legal enforcement action against any passenger who assaults, threatens, intimidates or interferes with airline crewmembers, and can propose civil penalties up to $37,000 per violation.”
