Iconic rapper DMX will leave prison in exactly one month after serving a year for tax evasion, according to a Thursday report from TMZ. The attorney for DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, told the tabloid that his client will be freed from West Virginia’s Gilmer Federal Correctional Institution on January 27, and that his client is eager to return home to his 15 children—one of which has reportedly suffered serious health problems. Simmons was sentenced in March for evading $1.7 million in taxes between 2000 and 2005 by moving money between managers’ and associates’ accounts. DMX’s fans might not have to wait long for more content: the rapper has been writing songs in prison, TMZ says, and has already been approached by Hollywood for a possible biopic.
