Authorities in California used DNA from genealogy websites to find Joseph James DeAngelo, the suspected Golden State Killer. According to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, officials compared DNA from crime scenes to online genetic profiles. Investigators began to surveil DeAngelo last week and scraped his DNA from something he threw away. He was arrested earlier this week and is expected to face multiple charges of murder and rape stemming back decades.
