As the Democratic finger pointing continued on Thursday in the wake of Donald Trump’s decisive victory, the party chair rebuked Senator Bernie Sanders’ criticism that Democrats had “abandoned working class people.” “This is straight up BS,” DNC chair Jaime Harrison wrote on X. “[Joe] Biden was the most pro-worker President of my lifetime—saved union pensions, created millions of good paying jobs and even marched in a picket line.” He added that some of Kamala Harris’ plans would have “fundamentally transformed the quality of life and closed the racial wealth gap for working people across this country,” like child tax credits and subsidizing first time home buyers. Sanders, who ran unsuccessful campaigns for president in 2016 and 2020 bolstered by progressive and working class support, asked if “big money interests and well-paid consultants who control the Democratic party” will “learn any real lessons” or “understand the pain and political alienation” of millions of Americans. He concluded, “Probably not.” Harrison will reportedly not seek another term as DNC chair.
