Few people, even among Donald Trump’s most fervent supporters, will be surprised by Nancy Pelosi’s assertion in her upcoming memoir that she is not the GOP’s 2024 presidential election nominee’s biggest fan. But the former House speaker does offer a second opinion to her diagnosis that the 78-year-old Trump is “unhinged.” According to The Guardian, at a memorial service in early 2019 for a distinguished psychiatrist, Pelosi writes that she was approached by a succession of prominent doctors who told her they were “deeply concerned that there was something seriously wrong” with Trump who, at that time, of course, was the president of the United States. “I’m not a doctor but I did find his behaviors difficult to understand,” writes Pelosi in The Art of Power: My Story as America’s First Woman Speaker of the House. She also writes that she did the dishes and a load of laundry waiting for then VP Mike Pence to answer her call for him to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove Trump, but he never picked up the call.
