The Department of Justice is set to introduce a new program that will require U.S. police departments to provide full details of deadly altercations involving officers each quarter. Federal officials would start to verify fatal cases prior to seeing them reported voluntarily. The new system would replace the FBI’s prior counting method, which has been discredited.
