Donald Trump has launched numerous attacks on Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in recent days—but he claimed Thursday that he doesn’t know “anything about him” and would not debate him until his polling numbers are higher. The question of whether he would share the debate stage with Kennedy—who very much would like to go head to head with Trump—was posed after he left his criminal trial in Manhattan. “Look, RFK is polling very low, he is not a serious candidate,” Trump told reporters. “They say he hurts Biden. I don’t know who he hurts, he might hurt me, I don’t know. But he has very low numbers, certainly not numbers that he can debate with. He’s got to get his numbers a lot higher before he’s credible.” It’s unclear at this stage if Kennedy’s presence in the presidential race as an independent hurts Trump or President Joe Biden more. But Trump’s camp has reportedly grown increasingly concerned about the possibility the anti-vaxxer from America’s most famous political dynasty could strip away votes.
