South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace hit back against her characterization as an “ICE Barbie” in a Saturday tweet following her viral ride-along with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in her state.

Mace became the second MAGA leader this week to seemingly turn an ICE raid into a fashion spectacle as she appeared to glam up before recounting her ride-along in disjointed detail. Mace’s look rivaled Kristi Noem’s ICE Barbie getup as the homeland security secretary accompanied ICE on a raid in the Bronx.

“Didn’t wash my face or my hair from the day before,” said Mace in response to her look. She added, “But the Left says I got dolled up. OK,” with three laughing with tears emojis.

Mace claimed in an X post that “guns were drawn,” including “long barrel rifles” during the raid. She also said the ceiling caved in because one migrant supposedly hid from ICE in the ceiling.

However, some social media commentators casted doubt on Mace’s account of the raid, calling out the congresswoman’s history of attention-seeking behavior.

In 2023, Mace wore a shirt with the letter “A” on it after voting to oust Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy of California. The shirt was a reference to Nathaniel Hawthorne’s novel The Scarlet Letter, about a woman condemned to wear a scarlet “A” after an act of infidelity.

In December, Mace claimed that a transgender activist shook her hand so hard that she required a sling. The activist, James McIntyre, was arrested for the incident. However, witnesses challenged her account of the handshake, calling it a “normal interaction.”

Mace also had an aggressive verbal confrontation with Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Missouri during a House Oversight Committee hearing. Mace asked Crockett if she wanted to “take it outside” after Crockett accused Mace of demonizing transgender people for political reasons. Mace later clarified that she was not alluding to violence with her statement.

The Daily Beast has reached out to Mace for comment.
