‘Don't Cry’: Serena Williams Consoles Dayana Yastremska After Third-Round Win

Serena Williams consoled Ukranian Dayana Yastremska after beating the teen in a third round match at the Australian Open, hugging her and telling her “don’t cry,” according to reports. Yastremska, who reportedly idolized Williams since age 5, lost the third-round competition in 67 minutes. When Yastremska, 18, and Williams, 37, met at the net, the Grand Slam veteran said “You're so young. You did amazing. Don't cry,” William said in a video posted on the Australian Open Twitter page. Speaking after Williams said, “As she was walking towards the net, I could tell she was quite upset. I kind of liked that. It shows she wasn’t just there to play a good match, she was there to win. She wanted to win. That really broke my heart.”
