A wave of poachings left dozens of elephants dead in the Democratic Republic of the Congo's Garamba National Park. Authorities suspect the poachers—three of whom were killed—could have ties to the Lord Resistance Army, which is led by the infamous warlord Joseph Kony, and operates in the border area of DRC and South Sudan. Garamba, one of Africa's oldest national parks, is home to nearly 3,000 elephants and other wildlife.
