U.S. officials told the Associated Press that an unmanned drone that crashed in Iran last weekend was on a mission to spy on the nation. That’s not all: the drone is part of a fleet that has been spying on Ahmadinejad’s nation for years, and was deployed from a U.S. base in Afghanistan. The stealth RQ-170 was also used leading up to the raid that killed Osama bin Laden. The base in Shindand, Afghanistan, was reportedly established—and built up—to keep an eye on Iran. It’s still unknown whether the drone was shot down by Iran, as it claimed.
