Former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn has asked a New York State Supreme Court judge to dismiss a civil suit filed by the hotel maid who accused him of rape. His lawyers say he was protected from civil litigation because his time as head of the IMF gives him diplomatic immunity. Strauss-Kahn returned home to Paris last month when criminal rape charges against him were dropped after prosecutors lost faith in Nafissatou Diallo, the maid who accused him.
