Julian Assange's long stay at the Ecuadorian embassy in London might be nearing its end. Ecuador's president, Lenin Moreno, confirmed Friday that he's in discussions with the British government about handing him over to the authorities and said Assange must leave eventually. The Wikileaks founder has been hiding out at the embassy since 2012. He has an outstanding arrest warrant in the U.K. which was issued in 2012 after Assange failed to answer bail over sex assault claims in Sweden. Although those claims have since been dropped, the warrant for his arrest still stands. Speculation about Assange’s future has grown after British newspaper the Sunday Times reported senior officials from Ecuador and Britain were in discussion about how to remove him from the London embassy, and a source close to him told Reuters the situation was coming to a head.
