The U.S. Navy SEAL who is facing war crime charges for allegedly killing an injured person and posing next to the dead body was able to see his family and go to a Denny’s after President Trump ordered that he be detained in “less restrictive confinement.” Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) told Fox News that Eddie Gallagher was “extremely happy to be out” of a Marine Corps Air Station brig and transferred to the barracks of a San Diego Naval facility. “When I saw him he was kind of out of it. Imagine being in a jail, being treated pretty harshly with a bunch of bad people, sex offender-type people and now you are out,” Hunter told Fox News. “He was just extremely happy to be out.” Gallagher was reportedly able to see his family, eat at a Denny’s restaurant, and hit some golf balls on the base’s driving range. Hunter also told the network that Justice Department and U.S. military prosecutors just “want[ed] wins” and were being “very vindictive” in Gallagher’s case. Gallagher is currently awaiting trail after allegedly stabbing an injured man to death and posing next to the dead body in Mosul, Iraq, in 2017.
