Elon Musk is seemingly taking the “efficiency” part of his new role very seriously. The Donald Trump ally, who was appointed as head of the Department of Government Efficiency, told multiple associates that he’s been sleeping at the DOGE headquarters, Wired reported. Though, according to the First Buddy, he’s been offered to spend the night in the Lincoln Bedroom at the White House—he’s instead opting for the DOGE office in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, just a few steps away. Musk’s choice of bedroom is reflective of his push to influence the federal government. It’s also a playbook the tech CEO has used before. Musk said in an interview that the factory floor at Tesla was his “primary residence” during busy periods. “Since the team could see me sleeping on the floor during shift change, they knew I was there, and that made a huge difference, they gave it their all,” he said. After purchasing Twitter in 2022, Musk also moved into the newly-renamed X headquarters, where employees would see him pace the floor late at night and be escorted to the bathroom by security guards.
