Elon Musk’s plan to build a high-tech tunnel in Los Angeles has reportedly gone belly up. Musk’s Boring Company announced Tuesday that it has nixed a project to construct a subterranean passageway below the 405 freeway along L.A.’s Westside. The decision came after several community groups sued the city over its move to exempt the project from an environmental-review process, resulting in a settlement. “The parties (The Boring Company, Brentwood Residents Coalition, Sunset Coalition, and Wendy-Sue Rosen) have amicably settled the matter of Brentwood Residents Coalition et al. v. City of Los Angeles (TBC — The Boring Company),” a statement released by a Boring spokesman said. “The Boring Company is no longer seeking the development of the Sepulveda test tunnel and instead seeks to construct an operational tunnel at Dodger Stadium.” Musk, who has griped on Twitter about his own 17-mile work commute along the 405, proposed the project last year to help alleviate highway congestion.
