Elon Musk has indicated that he’s open to resurrecting the defunct video platform, Vine, after a ban shut down TikTok over the weekend to millions of users in the U.S. Musk, who owns social media rival X, responded late Saturday to a user on his platform who wrote, “I think it’s time to bring it back @elonmusk‚" alongside an image of Vine’s logo. “We’re looking into it,” Musk replied. Vine was a short-form video platform that shut down in 2016 after struggling to keep up with competitors such as Instagram and X, which operated then as Twitter. However, TikTok’s blackout on Saturday night prompted renewed calls for Vine to come back online. “Bringing back the original Vine??? That would be awesome!!!” wrote one user to Musk. TikTok’s shutdown comes after the Supreme Court on Friday upheld a ban that was passed in Congress and signed into law in April by President Joe Biden.
