Kevin Costner was captured visibly teary-eyed as he received a standing ovation in Cannes on Sunday at the premiere of his highly-anticipated Western flick, Horizon: An American Saga. Footage captured by Variety shows Costner fighting back emotions as the crowd around gives him a rapturous applause while chanting “Kevin! Kevin! Kevin!” It is unclear the exact timeframe of the ovation—People reports seven minutes, while Variety claims 10 minutes and Deadline racks up 11 minutes. No matter the length, Costner seemed genuinely moved by the response. “I’m sorry you had to clap that long for me to understand that I should speak,” the 69-year-old Yellowstone star said to laughter, according to Variety. “Such good people. Such a good moment, not just for me, but for the actors that came with me, for people who believed in me who continued to work. It’s a funny business, and I’m so glad I found it. There’s no place like here. I’ll never forget this—neither will my children.” Costner directed, produced, co-wrote and even starred in the film, which is about the rise of the American West told through various perspectives. He mortgaged his own ranch to make the $100 million-plus movie a reality, adding at Cannes that there were “three more” installments of the Horizon franchise to come.
