Actress Vanessa Marquez, 49, was shot and killed by South Pasadena police in her home Thursday afternoon. Officers responded to Marquez’s home to perform a wellness check following an emergency medical call. Marquez was having seizures when officers arrived. Authorities claim that Marquez became uncooperative and appeared to be suffering from mental-health issues. A Los Angeles County Mental Health clinician arrived and spoke to Marquez for about 90 minutes when Marquez allegedly retrieved a gun and pointed it at the officers. The officers shot and killed her. Authorities later discovered it was a BB gun. Marquez was best known for her role as nurse Wendy Goldman in the first three seasons of ER as well as 1988’s Stand and Deliver.
