Ethiopian authorities have indicated that they can release a more thorough report on the crash of the Ethiopian Boeing 737 Max jet crash if the investigation goes beyond the year-long target. The crash, which killed 157 people, is thought to have been triggered by the plane’s automatic anti-stall system. “It depends on the complexity of the investigation,” said Amdye Andualem, chairman of the Ethiopian Accident Investigation Bureau, citing International Civil Aviation Organization guidelines. “If we cannot release the final report within a year, we can release an interim report.” A draft report will be provided to Boeing and “concerned bodies” before the final report is released, according to Amdye. According to the preliminary report, malfunctions began seconds after the airliner took off from the Ethiopian capital on March 10.
