A Texas judge accepted a plea deal Monday from a former Baylor University student and fraternity president who was accused of rape by a fellow student. Jacob Anderson pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of unlawful restraint, which allows him to avoid jail time and not register as a sex offender. Anderson was sentenced to serve three years probation, and he’ll have to pay a $400 fine. According to campus newspaper The Baylor Lariat, as soon as the judge announced he was accepting the deal, sobbing could be heard from the front row. Anderson was accused of drugging a woman, then taking her to a secluded area where she was restrained, choked, and repeatedly raped. The alleged attack took place in Feb. 2016, when the alleged victim was a sophomore in college. After the judge announced his decision, the woman spoke in court, recounting the disturbing details of her alleged rape and expressing disappointment in the judge’s decision. “He most likely will rape again... emboldened by his power over women and his ability to go free,” she said. “Jacob Walter Anderson, it must be horrible to be you.”
