Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson isn‘t buying Bret Baier’s acknowledgment that his team played the wrong clip during his interview with Vice President Kamala Harris the day prior.
During the sit-down, a clip of Donald Trump was shown to Harris and Baier, which was edited to omit the former president’s call to use the military on “the enemy within.”
“I did make a mistake,” Baier said at the tail end of Special Report on Thursday.

“When I called for a soundbite, I was expecting a piece of the ‘enemy from within’ from Maria Bartiromo‘s interview to be tied to the piece from your town hall, Harris, where you asked the former president about ‘the enemy from within,’“ Baier told colleague Harris Faulkner. ”It just had the piece about the town hall.”
That error was recognized immediately by the Democratic nominee. And after the interview wrapped, many commentators and other anchors also called out Baier and Fox News.
On Thursday, Baier got around to playing the relevant portion of Trump’s comments about the “enemy from within.” Notably, what wasn’t included was Trump specifically naming the Pelosis or Rep. Adam Schiff as examples of people who should bear the brunt of his military initiatives.
To Carlson, who agreed with a post after the interview that called Baier a “hack,” this was too little, too late.
“Now Bret Baier says ‘his mistake’ he ran wrong Trump ‘enemy from within’ clip during interview w/ Harris,” Carlson wrote on X. “Newsflash: When wrong clips run (which happens) hosts can easily say ‘Sorry that was the wrong clip’. He or his producers would have known it was the wrong one right then.”
Baier made no such statement during the interview, even after Harris called him on it.
