Former Trump campaign aide Sam Nunberg says he believes special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation is “warranted” after testifying before a grand jury over the matter. Speaking to ABC News on Saturday, Nunberg walked back his earlier comments dismissing the probe. “No, I don't think it's a witch hunt. It’s warranted because there's a lot there, and that's a sad truth,” he told ABC News. Nunberg, who stole the spotlight earlier this week with a spate of apparently drunken media appearances, also said he doesn’t think the Russia investigation “leads to the president,” despite his earlier suggestions that Trump had “done something” during the election. Nunberg said he is “very worried” about what the probe means for Trump ally Roger Stone, who he described as “the subject of this investigation.”
