How long will it take you to sweat off that 12-ounce can of Coke? Researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health have found that posting the exercise time it takes to burn off the calories of sugary drinks (50 minutes for a can of soda, if you were curious) dropped sales of the beverages by 50 percent, says a study published Friday in the American Journal of Public Health. Researchers posted a piece of paper on the cooler containing the drinks, listing the amount of exercise time needed to burn off the calories of a soda. The study targeted black and Hispanic teens, the same population that researchers say is the target market for beverage companies.
