Facebook will no longer flag potentially false news articles with a “disputed” tag, the social media company announced Monday. The announcement comes in response to a study that found that the flags actually encouraged some users to click the links. “Putting a strong image, like a red flag, next to an article may actually entrench deeply held beliefs—the opposite effect to what we intended,” Facebook wrote in a Monday post.
