The art world tipped its hat one last time to esteemed Cowboy Kate photographer Sam Haskins, who passed away last Thursday at his Australia home at the age of 83. Haskins, renowned for his nudes, had suffered two strokes in recent years and took his own life, according to his son Ludwig. The younger Haskins, however, recalled his father’s final “rock star moment,” with the successful book launch of Fashion Etcetera and his exhibition at Milk Studios in New York a few months ago. Haskins also worked with designer Tommy Hilfiger on a special edition of Fashion Etcetera, a retrospective on Haskins’ 50-year career. “Sam influenced generations of photographers, designers, and artists; his art captured a genuine love for women and beauty,” Tommy Hilfiger said. “There will only ever be one Sam Haskins, and I am honored to have worked with him and to celebrate his last masterpiece.” One week before he took his life, Haskins produced a limited-edition series of prints, now on sale at the Milk Studios.
