The shooting at the headquarters of conservative Christian group Family Research Council was likely politically motivated, according to FBI documents. Floyd Lee Corkins, the suspect, reportedly said, “I don’t like your politics,” before shooting a security guard. The FBI also reports that he had 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches with him in his backpack. The fast-food chain suffered a fierce backlash after its president publicly opposed same-sex marriage, a position shared by the FRC. Corkins “has strong opinions with respect to those who do not treat homosexuals in a fair manner,” his parents told the FBI.
