Internet activists are worried after the FCC chief announced his impending resignation on Friday, which throws a wrench in one of Obama's campaign promises. Former Chief Julius Genachowski has been a proponent of a free and open Internet throughout his four years in office, and now Obama needs to find someone else who will maintain that "net neutrality". Activists hope the next FCC chief will continue to guarantee that service providers will not hand out faster load times to sites that pay for it, a key component of Obama's net neutrality promise in 2008. Rules against such actions have been in and out of court in the past few years. Here's hoping whoever gets picked can keep them standing.
